The whoosh of the Gastein Ache, the twittering of birds, the lush green of the valley floor, framed by the summits of the mountain: a paradise for those who love mountain hikes! The Hotel EUROPÄISCHER HOF lies in the midst of the wide Gastein Valley – the ideal starting point for unforgettable hiking tours in clear, fragrant mountain air.
Day 1
Upon you arrival in the hotel you get your deluxe room. At 7.00 p.m. your evening together begins with a first-rate Gala-Dinner, as befits the respective occasion, in a restaurant in the hotel reserved exclusively for you.
Day 2
Fortified with a gourmet breakfast, you are cordially welcomes by your guide in the hotel lobby. Kitted out with a rucksack, which is filled with a hearty snack, you start out on your mountain hike.
A bus transfer takes you to Sportgastein. From here you go up to the 1600 metres altitude to Schuster’s Rappenweiter, Lake Bockhart, which lies at 1850 metres. You can enjoy a tour around the lake on the plateau. Depending on the group’s fitness a further climb to the Upper Lake Bockhart at 2076 metres may be possible. Newcomers to mountain hiking are also able to do a less demanding, yet just as picturesque, hike on the plateau from Sportgastein.
During your hike there is a stop-off in of the many great inns. A hearty meal and a refreshing drink bolster you up while you rest. Then to finish it’s a descent to Sportgastein. A shuttle takes you from there back to hotel, where a typical custom awaits you: the traditional Plattensteck tournament. With appropriate ‘schnapps’ and skill you shoot at the so-called pigeons. Don’t worry; no animals come to any harm here.
Returning from a day in the fresh mountain and cave air hotel’s Gastein Spa then has relaxation and recuperation on offer: with the mist shower of the rock grotto, the thermal indoor pool (7x16 metres, 31°C), the Finnish or the organic herb sauna, the Roman steam bath and the light infused open-air alcove.
In the Restaurant in the evening you’ll be indulged with a "Salzburg Buffet" typical of the region. Enjoy Austrian specialities and finish off the day with good company and nice discussions in the Gastein Klause or in the Achenbar.
Day 3
On this morning after breakfast the natural surroundings entice you to go on another little excursion again. A shuttle takes you to the Evian spring, from where you will be guided on a small walk along the Gastein Ache to the traditional "Asten Alp". Enjoy the typical Austrian fare. After a stop it’s back to the Evian spring. There a bus transfer will take you back to the Hotel EUROPÄISCHER HOF. Well strengthened you then make your trip back home.
