What is radon and how does this radioactive substance work?
The mild, natural radioactivity has a positive healing effect on the body. The inert gas radon seeps from the thermal water and gets into the body’s skin via your airways. There its healing effect unfurls, before after approximately 3 hours, being fully broken down. The body’s immune system is stimulated and the natural warmth promotes the circulation.
Its healing results are intensified by the elevation of the Gastein spa region. Our body adapts to the altitude, producing more red blood cells and increasing the ability of oxygen to be delivered into the tissues.

The radon thermal bath is our most important basic treatment. The special baths are filled with around 480 litres of thermal water. The temperature of the bath is between 36 and 39 degrees Celsius and the bath lasts 15-22 minutes. Radon content (water from the Elisabeth spring Bad Gastein): 52nCi/l
In the thermal water the body heats up and as a result the metabolic processes are stimulated. The radon dissolved in the thermal water is absorbed into the body via the skin and via the airways, causing the body to release its own pain relievers.
