Family-friendly circular hike
Stubnerkogel circular trail
Experience one of the most beautiful panoramic trails in the Gastein Valley: the family-friendly circular hiking trail on the Stubnerkogel combines spectacular views with playful elements and a leisurely walking time. On well-secured paths, hikers of all ages can discover several viewpoints - including the famous suspension bridge, the ‘Glocknerblick’ viewing platform and the impressive rock path. The tour starts conveniently at the mountain station of the Stubnerkogel cable car and is ideal as a half-day excursion for families with children.
The Stubnerkogelbahn cable car operates daily from Friday 16 May to Sunday 12 October 2025 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm (in bad weather every hour on the hour), with the last descent at 4:00 pm.
Schlossalm
The Schlossalm in Bad Hofgastein is a versatile adventure mountain for families, hiking enthusiasts and adventurers. Whether panoramic trails, via ferrata or adventure playground - everyone will find the right summer highlight here. The Schlossalmbahn cable car takes you comfortably to the alpine hiking area, which delights with nature, exercise and views. The cable car is open at Whitsun from 6 to 9 June and regularly from 19 June to 2 November daily from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm (hourly in bad weather); additionally in good weather from 6 to 9 November. Last descent at 16:00. Closing days: 22-24 September, 29 Sept.-1 Oct. and 6-8 October.
Graukogel
In summer, the Graukogel in Bad Gastein attracts hikers with quiet hiking trails, unique views and its famous Swiss stone pine trail - ideal for anyone looking to slow down and get in touch with nature. The ancient Swiss stone pine stands along the family-friendly circular hike are particularly impressive. The Graukogel cable car takes you up the mountain daily from 4 July to 5 October from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm (last ascent at 3:30 pm, last descent at 4:15 pm). If it rains in the morning, the cable car remains closed.
Fulseck
The Fulseck adventure mountain in Dorfgastein delights visitors in summer with a variety of hiking trails, the mirror lake, a barefoot path and family-friendly nature experiences. Ideal for active connoisseurs and families.
The Fulseck summit lift is in operation from 19 June to 31 October 2025 - daily in the main and off-season, on selected days in June and autumn. Travel times: 8:30-16:00, last descent from the mountain station at 16:00, from the middle station at 16:30. No operation in extremely bad weather.
In summer 2025, the weekly hiking swing days in Skigastein invite you to actively experience the most beautiful sides of the Schlossalm and the Stubnerkogel. Between the two peaks, a leisurely hiking trail leads along the idyllic Schlossalm lake (approx. 30 minutes' walk) - ideal for a relaxed combination of nature enjoyment and mountain experience.
Regional delicacies and musical entertainment with real folk music await you on the sun terraces of the Kleine Scharte mountain restaurant and the Stubner summit restaurant - perfect moments of enjoyment at lofty heights.

The connection between Schlossalm and Stubnerkogel is via the Kaserebenbahn and Senderbahn (Angertal). The Schlossalmbahn, Kaserebenbahn, Senderbahn and Stubnerkogelbahn lifts operate continuously from 8.30 am to 4 pm on the days of the event.
If it rains in the morning, there will be no hiking swing day.
When the sun slowly sinks behind the peaks, the most atmospheric time of the day begins on the mountain. On the evening ascents in Skigastein, you can enjoy romantic sunsets, impressive views and the special tranquillity of the evening hours - accompanied by regional delicacies and musical entertainment in the huts.
Whether on the Schlossalm, the Stubnerkogel or the Graukogel - every evening ascent promises unforgettable moments at lofty heights.
